The dates for this year's Birmingham German Christmas Market have been announced. The Frankfurt Christmas Market will return to Birmingham to mark its 24th year in the city.

The popular market will return in November and December to bring some festive cheer back to the city centre in the run up to Christmas. It will feature stalls selling an array of food and drink, traditional toys, ornaments and gifts.

And this year we get to experience the German Christmas Market for an extra day compared to 2023. The dates for the 2024 market have been confirmed as Friday, November 1, to Tuesday, December 24.

Which means residents and visitors can enjoy the Birmingham German Christmas Market for just over seven weeks, or 54 days. The Frankfurt Christmas Market will be in the city for longer in 2024 - in 2023 it was open for 53 days.

It will bring a festive aroma of hot gluhwein, schnitzel and spicy sausage which will fill New Street and Victoria Square.

The market will be open between 11am and 9pm on Mondays to Thursdays, while Fridays opening hours will be 11am to 9.30pm. On Saturdays you can visit the market between 10am and 9.30pm and on Sundays 10am to 9pm. The only exception will be on Remembrance Sunday when the market will open from 1pm.

It has also been confirmed that the big wheel and ice rink will return to Centenary Square on Friday, November 1, opening between 10am and 10pm.
