Tesco

Tesco has brought in an extra charge for one item

In recent times, Tesco has implemented a variety of new actions. The initial notable shift follows Tesco's loss in an appeal against a judgment that it violated Lidl's rights by using its yellow circle on a blue backdrop for its Clubcard Prices promotions.

Tesco was instructed to modify the design and has begun deploying an updated version via its app. The yellow circle on a blue backdrop has been substituted with a rectangle layout with curved corners, but retaining the identical yellow and blue colours, reports the Mirror.

Moreover, the supermarket has launched a new "Best of British" webpage on its site to aid local farmers. Lastly, Tesco has begun charging 10p for hangers across certain UK outlets as part of a new experiment.

The retailer said a handful of outlets were involved in the trial, though they didn't divulge the exact number or their locations.

Morrisons

Morrisons is extending its quiet hours to operate from 2pm to 3pm every Monday through Thursday. Quiet hours are already in place between 9am and 10am on Saturdays, and the opening hour on Sundays.

Morrisons is enhancing its loyalty scheme by introducing "My Points Boosters" within its More Card app, providing "hyper-personalised" offers. Customers can accept challenges related to their shopping habits, such as hitting spend targets, to earn rewards.

Additionally, Morrisons is expanding the rollout of new children's trolleys and checkouts after a positive trial period. These child-friendly checkouts are operated under the supervision of Morrisons staff, who assist kids in scanning their items.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's has lowered prices of big name brands

Sainsbury's has launched its Low Everyday Prices on over 1,000 items, featuring well-known brands like PG Tips, Quaker Oats, Sensodyne Toothpaste, and various washing powders. Despite this initiative, customers are advised to continue comparing prices using tools like Trolley.co.uk.

This new pricing strategy takes over from the previous Price Lock campaign, but Sainsbury's will maintain its Aldi Price Match and Nectar Prices promotions.

Asda

Asda is set to introduce an online prescription service in partnership with Pharmacy2U. While currently available for home delivery management online, the service will soon allow prescriptions to be ordered for collection at 232 Asda stores.

Aldi

Aldi has made a significant change to the packaging of its own-brand toothbrushes in an effort to reduce plastic waste. The supermarket giant has swapped out the previous plastic and card packaging for a more eco-friendly cardboard option on its two-packs of Dentitex Soft and Whitening toothbrushes.

This move is expected to eliminate around 17 tonnes of plastic packaging annually.

Boasting an impressive 4.9 rating on Dunelm's website, the £20 Round Shoe Storage Ottoman has homeware fans "chuffed to bits" and praising its "strong" design.

One five-star review read: "Bought as a stool for a dressing area to store hair equipment in. Perfectly strong enough to sit on and a good height. Looks much more expensive than it was. You just fold the base out and insert a base. Very happy with it."

A second shopper praised: "I am absolutely chuffed to bits with this storage stool and can't believe how strong it is. Teenage daughter using it as her dressing table stool, and it even holds an adult's weight. Loads of storage inside, and I love the extra pocket spaces on the inside around the edges, and left with a big space in the middle too. Lovely colour too."
