A football agent has claimed that Liverpool have previously expressed an interest in signing Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Reds are already being linked with potential new signings ahead of the summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp will be departing at the end of the season, meaning Liverpool will have a new manager at the helm.

Richard Hughes has been appointed as the new sporting director and will oversee the first summer window in the post-Klopp era at Anfield. It remains to be seen what players Liverpool will target when the window opens at the end of the season.

Centre-back could be an area of the squad that the Reds identify as needing reinforcements. Ibrahima Konate was the last central defender to be signed by Liverpool, arriving from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Football agent Bruno Satin has claimed that Liverpool have previously expressed an interest in signing Todibo. The centre-back is currently starring for Nice after arriving from Barcelona in 2021, the same summer as Konate was signed by Liverpool.

Satin, who was once Todibo's agent, has claimed that Liverpool were one of three clubs who wanted to sign the defender from Toulouse back in 2019. However, the agent has explained why Todibo instead decided to join Barcelona over a move to Anfield.

"[Former Napoli director Cristiano] Giuntoli asked me, but there was Liverpool, Juventus and Leverkusen, but then the boy wanted Barcelona and we chose to accommodate him,” Satin told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, via TuttomercatoWeb.

Todibo has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League once again this summer. Manchester United have been credited with an interest in signing the 24-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether Todibo will sign for a new club.
