A woman said she "felt helpless" as her dog was savagely attacked while walking through a park.

On the evening of Friday, April 12, Ana, 33 and Auri, 35, took their 10-year-old Husky, Diesel to Seymour Park, Ellesmere Port. They claim that as they entered the park, what they thought to be American Bulldog ran over and attacked Diesel.

Auri said he spent "a couple of minutes" trying to free the Husky from the offending dog, which was off its lead.

In footage obtained by the ECHO, when the dog's owner arrives, he can be seen asking if Diesel is okay. However, when Auri threatens to call the police, the man can be heard saying: "No, why would you call police? It's a dog fight."

He continues to say "no police, no police" until he leaves the scene. A child then approaches the pair and asks "are you okay?" before being called to "run". He says "sorry" and runs away.

Ana told the ECHO: “Our dog was in a really bad state: his leg was injured and he lost his canine tooth. Everything happened so fast.

"It’s the most traumatic experience I’ve ever been through - I felt helpless and I’m just glad someone else was around, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to save him.

"I don't want to shame the man or ruin his life but I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I can just imagine that it could be much worse if it was a kid."
