Police are hunting two men after a stolen BMW smashed into the front of a house - terrifying a resident snoozing on a sofa inside. Officers released CCTV showing two men escaping across the drive of the home after the crash in Chipperfield Road in Bromford just after noon on Monday, April 15.

They were caught on CCTV seconds after the car - thought by West Midlands Police to have been stolen, careered through a post on the drive and hurtled straight into the loung of the home, where Mohammed Ansar Ali, 54,was sleeping.

Passers-by and nearby workers rushed to help Mr Ali. Footage of the crash can be seen here.

A police car arrived at the scene seconds later. Mr Ali was taken to hospital and was discharged on Tuesday, April 16. Tonight, Wednesday, April 17, the West Midlands force released CCTV footage of two men officers would like to speak to.

The new footage showed one man, possibly with a beard, wearing a hooded coat, light grey jogging bottoms and black and white trainers, running across paving slabs on the driveway of the house. It also showed a second man, who was clean-shaven and with short hair, stumbling and falling across the slabs.

He carryied a black backpack and wore a dark top, light jeans and black footwear. The second man was also shown briefly in a second clip running along a pavement by a road with cars in the background.

West Midlands Police said: “Recognise these men? We want to speak to them after a car hit a house on Chipperfield Road, Bromford on Monday, April 15.

“At around noon a suspected stolen car failed to stop for officers before hitting a house. The occupants fled the scene.

“A 54-year-old man was taken to hospital to be assessed. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to get in touch via Live chat or by calling 101 quoting log 1799 of 15 April.” Anyone with any information can also contact independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
