The Gamecocks became the first team since UConn in 2015-16 to have a perfect season in women's basketball. They overwhelmed Iowa and star guard Caitlin Clark in the title game, pulling away in the second half and winning 87-75.

It was South Carolina's third title since Staley's arrival in 2008. Beyond the success she has delivered on the court, the legendary former point guard is building a legacy and forging an identity in Columbia that has set the program apart.

Getting a shout-out from Beyoncé is a symbol of the Gamecocks' rise in the national consciousness.
