Dance icons are rubbing shoulder with 80s legends on the line-up for this year's South Tyneside Festival, with the line-ups now released for four huge free concerts in South Shields this summer.

Always a huge draw for people from all over the region, the South Tyneside Festival has attracted big names like Alexandra Burke, Busted, The Vamps, Billy Ocean and Sophie Ellis-Bextor over the last decade and now, the identities of the stars who will be doing the entertaining this year have been released, including one who saw their scheduled performance last year cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, as the region was battered by high winds.

This year's free concerts in Bents Park will kick off with a headline set from Sweet Lovin' and Melody hitmaker Sigala on Sunday, July 14, with support from Yo Man Funk Band, Marc Rowell and Drum Young.

Having been thwarted by the weather last year, Jason Donovan will hopefully be greeted by warm sunshine as he takes to the stage of Sunday, July 21. The afternoon gig will see him joined on the line-up by Two Metres Apart, The Gaslighters and Sophie Gordon.

The third concert on Sunday, July 28 will be a Pride in South Tyneside special, with music megastars Sister Sledge topping the bill and more acts to be announced. And finally, on Sunday, August 4, there will be a who's who of 80s favourites, with Haircut 100, T'Pau's Carol Decker and Sonia all et to perform, with support from The Breakfast Club.

All the concerts are FREE to attend, but priority tickets are again available from Ticketmaster, which guarantee early entry into the park.
