Manchester United fans have urged Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to join the club as tweets re-surfaced showing he is a boyhood Red Devils fan.

Dewsbury-Hall has starred for Leicester in their Championship promotion push, having broken into the Foxes' side during their time in the Premier League. While they currently sit in the second tier's automatic promotion places, the Midlands side are likely to be forced into selling several stars.

One of the players who will be a prime target in the market is Dewsbury-Hall. He has scored 12 goals and notched 14 assists in all competitions this season, marking himself out as one of the Championship's best midfielders.

His performances have drawn the eye of United, who are set to overhaul their squad in the summer. And it appears that Dewsbury-Hall would welcome an approach from Erik ten Hag's side.

United fans have discovered an old tweet Dewsbury-Hall sent in December 2011, when he was 13. The tweet reads: "Come on united! We are looking SO SO good 2-0."

The message was in reference to a 5-0 win over Fulham, when Danny Welbeck, Nani, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov all scored to help United thrash the Cottagers.

The win ensured United remained in second place in the Premier League, behind rivals Manchester City. And Red Devils supporters have been left delighted with the apparent confirmation Dewsbury-Hall is a boyhood fan.

One pleaded: "Come to United." Another added: "Bruh you're part of us." A third urged the club: "Bring him ASAP." A fifth fan said: "Let’s go and play for the Badge!!! See you in summer."

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has emerged as a top target for United

Another said: "Bring him home!!!!" While a seventh fan added: "Wasn't familiar with this bro. We are waiting for you bro. Come home soon." Finally, one supporter concluded: "Welcome to United brother."

Dewsbury-Hall still has another three years to run on his contract with Leicester. And boss Enzo Maresca has previously insisted he does not want the Englishman to depart, though admitted it was out of his hands.

“I don’t want Kiernan to go – ask the club if we need to sell or not. The only way we can do something is to sell players. I don’t think that Kiernan’s future was about this game. Kiernan is a Leicester player, hopefully he can play in the next game," he said in January.

“Here, he showed once again he is in love with the club, if something will happen now, I don’t know. He cares about the club and he has 10 goals this season, probably for the first time in his life, these kind of things, people don’t give the right importance to and it’s not a good thing.”
