Larry Lamb appears to have put the nail in the coffin for a Gavin and Stacey comeback, as he joined co-star Joanna Page on Loose Women, as he said the show was 'definitely not' coming back anytime soon, after reports of a new Christmas special got fans very excited earlier this year.

However, the popular actor, famous for playing Gavin's dad Mick, as well as Archie Mitchell in EastEnders, did offer a glimmer of hope, as, after being put on the spot, both he and Joanna said they would go back if the opportunity ever arose again.

It's been more than 16 years since took young couple Gavin and Stacey to their hearts, as millions became invested in the love story of a lad from Essex and a girl from Barry Island, making it a real ratings winner for the BBC, spawning more series and a number of Christmas specials, the most recent of which happened in 2019, as Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy in the final moments.

Nearly five years later, fans are still waiting to find out his answer, meaning reports of a return for the show caused a frenzy, before the rumours of a new festive episode for this year were shut down by Nessa star and writer Ruth Jones.

As she made a return to the Loose Women panel on Thursday, Joanne had a reunion with Larry and it was actually her who wasted no time in asking the question on if there would be any more Gavin and Stacey, to which he replied: "Definitely not. If I had to best right now, I'd say not."

However, he then did add: "But I'm not very good at gambling, so...." After then talking about just how much he loved playing Mick, as he and Joanna then reminisced about their time on set, Joanna asked: "If you were asked to go back, would you go?" to which Larry replied: "Absolutely1"
