Mims Davies MP shares the importance of testing for Hepatitis C
Every year on the 28th July, WHO and partners mark World Hepatitis Day to increase awareness and understanding of viral hepatitis and the diseases that it causes.
Hepatitis C is a virus that affects your liver and lots of people have hepatitis C without even knowing. Without you even knowing, it can damage your liver and can sometimes lead to life-threatening conditions like liver cancer or liver failure.
However, it can be cured by taking a course of tablets with very few side effects. You don't have to go to the doctors or hospital in order to obtain a Hepatitis C test, you can order a free home test kit and do a simple test at home to find out whether you have it or not.
Testing is particularly important for people who had a transfusion between the 70 to mid 90 range.

"Hepatitis C is a virus that effects the liver and can be life threatening, especially as you may even have it without knowing.
During the acute phase, during the first 6 months of the infection, most people show no symptoms. However, during the chronic phase the symptoms can include jaundice, fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, abdominal pain and star-shaped vein pattern developing on the swollen belly.
Please don't hesitate to order a free home kit now, even if just to put yours and your families minds at rest."
