The latest change on Facebook is that it now offers a way for users to utilize generative AI, particularly with the feature called 'Comment with AI,' which will help compose responses to existing posts users see on their feed. The 'Write with AI' feature is part of the latest tech by the company, offering AI-generated comments depending on the emotion the user wants to impart to the OP.

It would give generated responses to which users may choose and comment on the post, or it could also be edited to make it more personal or tailor what it said.

Facebook recently added a feature called 'Comment with AI' which will allow users to create AI-generated responses for posts they find on the feed, as reported by TechRadar

This is part of the recent reinforcement of Meta , which brought the so-called 'Meta AI' across its social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, which were built with Llama-3.

A recent feature found on Facebook allows a user to create comments that respond to the post. Meta's AI analyzes the content and gives users various emotions or styles for their comments. This includes:

  • Casual
  • Heartfelt
  • Insightful
  • Inspirational
  • Supportive

According to the report, this Comment with AI feature may be powered by Meta's Llama 2 generative AI model.

New Facebook AI Feature is 'Bad'

TechRadar regarded the Facebook Comment with AI feature as "bad," and it was said to be obvious that AI made it as it gave general responses. Additionally, it would not know to what degree the relationship between the user and the post owner has, where it could either go overboard or be cold.

Users may edit the responses generated by Meta's AI, tailoring them better to suit the comment. Facebook's feature provides the groundwork for this.

Meta's Generative AI

Meta is known for being part of the generative AI developments made available to the public, with its famed LLaMa large language model available for all to access for free. This was also made open-access, with its code available for developers to use and tweak, creating new apps or AI experiences via the Meta large language model that suits their needs.

Instagram received one of the earliest, widely available AI features from Meta's developments, and this is with the AI image editor and generative AI stickers, which users can create right from the app. However, it gained notoriety because of its wild creations, with many users considering them unsafe media as the AI can make explicit depictions on said stickers

Later on, Meta said that it already looked into fixing its AI, and alongside it, the company also added new tools that help content creators offer more to users, including filters, AI stickers, and more.

The generative AI developments have now reached Facebook, Meta's oldest platform. It offers a way to 'Comment with AI' to create responses, but its work is not entirely impressive.
