2017 RBC Heritage winner Wesley Bryan opened with eight birdies, an eagle at the par-5 4th and one bogey for a 9-under 63 to equal his career-low round on Tour and take the Corales Puntacana Championship lead.
"It was a great time. Got off to a good start, which was nice, but IÂ mean I've been hitting it nice leading up to this week. It's fun to actually go out there and make some birdies and had a couple chip-ins, which was nice as well.
"I feel like I've been hitting it nice, it's just the scores haven't been amazing and it's nice to finally see a number that looks pretty good on the scorecard today."
A three-stroke first-round lead is a tournament record and 63 ties the 18-hole tournament record.
Charley Hoffman’s bogey-free 6-under 66 included a chip-in birdie on his final hole for a share of second place alongside Troy Merritt, Chan Kim, Justin Lower and Parker Coody who completes the all-American top-5.
