ANDY MURRAY has a habit of putting his army of fans through the wringer.

And the Scot plunged his supporters into a deep depression when it emerged he had sustained a serious ankle ligament injury in the midst of his storming Miami Open run.

It threatened to cost him what seems likely to be an emotional final bow at this summer's Wimbledon, not to mention the chance to write another page in the history books with a THIRD Olympic title.

But the good news this morning is that the three-time Grand Slam winner is BACK on the practice court.

We told you earlier this week how the Scot will not need surgery on his left ankle as he steps up his tennis return.

And now he has posted a video on his Instagram story which showed him showing no ill effects in his movement as he lashed a series of forehands under the watchful eye of coach Louis Cayer.

He captioned the video with the word "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea?" - which was presumably an attempt to capture the grunting noise he was making while hitting the ball.

In any case, the video is great news for the former World No 1, who is officially still on the entry roll for the French Open at Roland Garros next month.

There is no official date yet for a return to competition but the French Open, which starts on May 26, might come too soon.

Yet while it's a tournament he doesn't always play, he's hinted that he doesn't see himself playing on much beyond this summer - and another run in Paris, where he's a former finalist, could well appeal.
