A much-loved waterfront St Ives cafe and restaurant has announced its kitchen will be closed for the foreseeable future. The River Terrace, on Bridge Street, confirmed the news earlier this week.

The venue is set in a beautiful Tudor era building with views of the gantry bridge, Hemingford Meadow and the River Great Ouse. It is a popular hotspot among locals, with reviewers on TripAdvisor calling it 'a delight to experience' and 'a must visit'.

However, they said they would be closing the kitchen to the restaurant, meaning that their regular breakfast and lunch items will not be available for the time being. The cafe will still be open as normal for customers to enjoy drinks and cakes.

A statement from the cafe said: "It's with deep sadness that we will be closing our kitchen for the foreseeable future due to emergency circumstances regarding building maintenance. For now, we will still be operating for drinks and cakes, and will be open our regular hours.

"To all who have booked with us, we will be in contact with you. Please bear with us while we work to get in touch, and resolve these issues. We appreciate all of your support during this difficult time.

"We'd like to clarify that we are all okay, and the emergency, as stated, only pertains to our building. We are working to resolve some issues with our kitchen, but with Grade II listed buildings, this can take time and planning.

"This is obviously devastating for our team, and these changes do come with some hurdles, but we want to give a big shout out to everyone who has offered their help!"

It is currently unknown when the kitchen will reopen, although it is hoped that it will be soon. Further updates can be found on the venue's Facebook page here.
