SPF is a vital step in any skincare routine and it's more important than ever while on holiday in sunny countries to make sure your skin is protected. There are tonnes of sunscreens on the market but Amazon shoppers say one dermatologist-recommended SPF50 face cream is so good, they're using it instead of foundation.

The Altruist Dermatologist Anti Redness and Pigmentation SPF50 Tinted Face Cream is clinically-proven to neutralise redness and blend out uneven skin tones, while protecting skin from harmful UV rays. The tinted face cream uses plant-based technology and special pigments to provide an instant concealing effect, which works like a foundation but feels light on skin.

Priced at less than £11, the cream contains SPF50 and five-star ultra UVA protection, making it ideal for summer holidays abroad. The Altruist range has received over 17,000 reviews on Amazon and beauty fans say the tinted face cream is the 'perfect sunscreen' that leaves skin with an 'airbrushed look' without the need for foundation.

One shopper said: "Love this product so much. Brilliant sunscreen and also is lightly tinted which means that I use it as a foundation with a bit of powder and it is all I need. It takes away the redness and is lovely and light." And a second fan wrote: "One shopper said: "Excellent sun cream. Have been looking for an anti redness cream with a high SPF. This one fits the bill, disguises redness and feels really nice on my skin."

Arlene said: "The perfect sunscreen, leaves me with an airbrushed look ... I rarely wear makeup as it is too cumbersome to reapply sunscreen during the day. However, with the matte coverage from this sunscreen, I don’t need anything else, so reapplying is a breeze. It also evens out my under eye circles and some hyperpigmentation on the sides of my face, so I look refreshed and even toned."

Mandy said: "Perfect. Keeps you covered from the sun, looks like foundation [with] anti-redness. Bought it to wear on holiday now where it every day." And Abi wrote: "I was really surprised how much it reduced any redness and gave a nice overall coverage, it does have a slight dewy finish.

"It doesn't cause me to breakout like normal face SPF and I now use it everyday instead of foundation. I prefer to put it on with a foundation brush and it covers nicely. Onto my second bottle now really pleased with it."

Some people with pale skin found the cream to be too dark for their skin tone, as Nicole wrote: "This cream is very moisturising and certainly gets rid of any redness and skin tones. It blends quite easily with the fingers.

"The colour does turn a little bit too dark for me, but I am fairly pale. Once blended and the rest of my makeup is applied, it does look very lovely though and adds a bit of colour to my usually red and white face."

Shoppers can buy the Altruist Dermatologist Anti Redness and Pigmentation SPF50 Tinted Face Cream for £10.75 on the Amazon website. Altruist also sells an all-over-body SPF50 sunscreen for £10.50.

Alternatively, Boots has a limited-time deal on La Roche-Posay's Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Hydrating Cream SPF50, now £17.50, down from £21.50, and the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF 50 for Normal to Dry Skin is reduced from £16.50 to £13.20.
