Two people have died in a house fire which destroyed a home in Walthamstow, London.

Around six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to the scene of the fire late on Sunday, along with police officers. Two people were found inside the terrace house and pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The house was completely "destroyed" by the blaze, firefighters said, with half of the roof left missing. Fire crews received the first of nine calls about the fire at 10.25pm, and the fire brought under control by 12.22am. Police and members of London Fire Brigade (LFB) are now working to investigate the cause of the fire. Work is continuing to establish the identities of the two people who died.
