An ITV documentary, Glitter: The Pop Star Paedophile, sharing the sickening crimes of Gary Glitter has left viewers feeling unsettled.

The unsettling narrative centres around Glitter, whose real name is real name Paul Gadd and his charges which include an array of offences such as child molestation and possession of child pornography. The documentary not only shed light upon Glitter's sickening criminal acts but also included heartbreaking victim testimonies along with archive footage and interviews from individuals acquainted with Glitter throughout his career.

The documentary featured an interview with ex-BBC presenter Debi Jones, who encountered Gary in the early 1990s. Recollecting her interaction with him, she declared: "When you met him and spoke to him, he was a gentleman." She stated that she hadn't noticed any threats from Gary during their chats, as she said: "Certain things, a raise of an eyebrow and a little look were expected but they weren't a real threat." Jones didn't sense any ulterior motives in Gary's conduct on her show.

Debi went on to share her unsettling experience with Jimmy Saville who attempted to pull her onto his lap. Notably, Debi faced no such episode with Gary. She stated: "If Gary Glitter had been a sexual predator of woman, my antenna would've been going," adding, "As you look back in retrospect, it's because he wasn't interested in grown-ups. He was interested in children."

The programme also recapped Glitter's arrest for pedophilic vicissitudes; he was apprehended when child pornography was found on his computer. Despite facing charges of child molestation, Gadd evaded conviction during his 1999 trial. He was found guilty of possessing child pornography. Although freed from jail in 2023, Gadd was later re-jailed for infringing his licence conditions.

As the documentary aired across the network, viewers instantly flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing their responses to the show with many expressing feelings of discomfort. One said: "Skins crawling watching this Gary Glitter documentary on ITV."
