Two suspects have been arrested after a man was stabbed on a residential street in Sneinton. Devon Street, located off Carlton Road, has reportedly been closed since last night (Tuesday, April 23).

Officers were called to the scene following reports someone had been attacked by a group. The 27-year-old victim was reportedly targeted by multiple people carrying weapons at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, April 23.

He was then taken to hospital with injuries that are not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-altering. Police investigating the assault have since arrested two men – aged 25 and 29 – on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This must have been an incredibly scary experience for the victim, who has quite understandably been left shaken up by what happened. There is no excuse for anyone to behave in the violent manner that was demonstrated in this incident.

"It is simply not OK for anyone to carry any kind of offensive weapon on the streets – this will be dealt with robustly by Nottinghamshire Police. While we strongly believe this to be an isolated incident, we will be providing an increased police presence in the area to provide the public with some reassurance.

"We have so far arrested two suspects following this serious assault, but our inquiries are still very much ongoing, so we’d ask anyone who saw what happened to come forward. Likewise, if anyone has any information that could assist us, we’d ask that they call the police on 101, quoting incident 858 of 23 April 2024, or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
