A 65-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted by 'two teenagers' at Stockport Interchange on Tuesday night (April 23).

The 'sickening attack' was reported at around 9.45pm, when officers arrived and found the man seriously injured. He was rushed to hospital from the scene and remains in a critical condition.

An investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police into the vile attack on the 'defenceless' victim. It is believed two teenagers are responsible.

No arrests have been made at this time, but patrols remain in place in the area amid ongoing investigations, police said.

Detective Inspector Shifa Chowdhury from our Stockport district said; “This is a sickening attack by what we believe was by two teenagers which left the victim who was defenceless with serious injury.

“We are now in a position to appeal to the public as we know members of the community were in the area at the time and witnessed what happened.

“Now is the time to come forward and do the right thing. No one deserves to see a family member or loved one be attacked in this way.
