A man has died and three people were rushed to hospital after a horror crash between a lorry and car on the A941 in Moray.

The 56-year-old male rear passenger who was travelling in a Vauxhall Crossland was tragically pronounced dead at the scene following the collision near the junction for the A95, Craigellachie, around 4.25pm on Tuesday, April 23.

The driver and two other passengers in the Vauxhall were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, with an air ambulance at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes HGV was not injured.

The road was closed for over 17 hours while investigations took place and fully reopened around 8am on Wednesday.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for information.

Road Policing Sergeant Iain Nicolson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and everyone involved in this incident.

“As our enquiries continue, I’d appeal to anyone with information to come forward. I’d be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage of the area around the time.”
