Inspectors have agreed that a school in Motherwell is progressing well and no further visits will be required.

Education Scotland wrote to families of pupils at Firpark School, which is run by North Lanarkshire Council, with findings from their most recent inspection, which took place in February.

They identified the school culture, academic performance of children, approach to health and wellbeing and the support from the parent council as strengths in the school’s work.

In terms of recommended improvements, they called for continued development of lesson plans to ensure maximum attainment, a more creative approach to teaching and learning including outdoor classes and work with the local community and digital technology, and that pupils be given more challenging work matched to their needs as well as additional opportunities to develop writing skills.

The report assessed the school in two categories - learning, teaching and assessment which was rated as “satisfactory” while raising attainment and achievement was considered “good”.
