Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League title were dealt a major blow with the defeat against Everton.
The Reds lost 2-0 in the Merseyside derby at the hands of the Blues at Goodison Park. Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the goals to hand Liverpool their fourth league defeat of the season.
Jurgen Klopp's side needed a win to go back to level on points with leaders Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table with just four fixtures left to play. However, the defeat means that Liverpool now trail the Gunners by three points and are just one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City who have two games in hand.
Liverpool now have just four remaining fixtures to try and launch a comeback in the quest to win the title in Klopp's final season as manager. The defeat to Everton, though, leaves the Reds with an uphill task to beat Man City and Arsenal to the trophy in the final weeks of the campaign.
