Pirates farm report for April 24, 2024: Indy's Nick Gonzales hits 2nd homer

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 12-11) defeated Omaha (Royals), 7-4. RHP Paul Skenes (0.53) went 4⅓ innings, allowing two runs (one earned) and five hits with seven strikeouts. 2B Nick Gonzales (.402) went 3 for 5 with two singles, his second home run of the season and two RBIs. SS Liover Peguero (.291) broke out of his slump with a two-run double and a single, going 2 for 5. DH Jake Lamb (.392) was 0 for 1 with three walks, a sac fly and a strikeout. CF Ji Hwan Bae (.375) was 0 for 4 with a walk, two strikeouts and two runs scored. LHP Brady Fiegl (3-1, 2.53) gave up two hits and one walk and struck out three in two shutout innings for the win. RHP Brent Honeywell (6.17) went 1⅔ innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out two. LHP Geronimo Franzua (6.52) struck out one and allowed one hit in one inning for his fourth save of the year.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-11) dropped an 8-7 decision to Akron (Guardians). RHP Bubba Chandler (1-1, 4.15) allowed two runs on no hits, walked a pair and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning to suffer the loss. He threw 34 pitches. RHP Valentin Linarez (6.94) went 2⅓ innings, allowing two runs on five hits, including a home run, walked one and struck out three. RHP Justin Meis (6.35) gave up a three-run home run among his five hits allowed, yielded four runs, walked one and struck out four in three innings of relief. RHP Isaac Mattson (3.24) struck out three and gave up three hits in three innings of work. LF Joe Perez (.304) went 2 for 5 with two singles and an RBI. CF Jase Bowen (.172) hit two singles and scored two runs. 1B Seth Beer (.33) went 4 for 4 with four singles and scored twice. SS Kervin Pichardo (.227) was 2 for 3 with a three-run home run, his first, and a single.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 9-7) blew a three-run lead in the ninth for a 6-5 walk-off loss to Greenville (Red Sox). RHP Brandan Bidois (0-2, 7.50) gave up four runs on two hits and walked two in the bottom of the ninth and was pulled after just a third of an inning and was saddled with the loss. LHP Cy Nielson (2.57) came in to try to salvage the game but gave up a walk off two-run double. Starter LHP Hunter Barco (1.80) gave up two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out seven in four innings. RHP Derek Diamond (0.00) gave up two hits and fanned four in three shutout innings. DH Rodolfo Nolasco (.113) gave the Grasshoppers a 5-2 lead in the top of the ninth with an RBI single and finished 1 for 2 with two walks and a strikeout. 3B Jack Brannigan (.234) went 1 for 5 with a two-run homer, his second, and CF Sammy Siani (.300) was 1 for 4 with his second home run of the year, a solo shot. RF Charles McAdoo (.294) went 2 for 4 with a double and a single. SS Termarr Johnson (.173) continues to struggle, going 0 for 4 with two strikeouts, a ground out and a fly out.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 3-14) lost 5-3 to Clearwater (Phillies). PH Jack Herman (.176) was 2 for 4 with two singles, a stolen base and a run scored. C Garrett Forrester (.184) went 2 for 4 with a single and an RBI double. 1B Eddy Rodriguez (.333) went 1 for 3 with a walk and a single. Starter RHP Hung-Leng Chang (0.71) gave up two unearned runs on five hits, walked one and struck out four in five innings. LHP Magdiel Cotto (2-2, 3.75) gave up two hits, including a two-run homer, and struck out two in one inning and took the loss. LHP Inmer Lobo (0.00) walked one and struck out a pair in an inning of relief. RHP Garrett McMillan (4.32) walked one and gave up a run on two hits in one inning.
