Heavy rain showers are forecast in parts of Greater Manchester today, according to Met Office forecasters.

Downpours are forecast in our region first thing this morning (Thursday) before cloudier weather sets in during the late morning. More heavy rain showers are then forecast in the early afternoon.

Some light rain may fall into the late afternoon before cloudier conditions are forecast again. Met Office forecasters said the temperatures are feeling 'cool' for this time of year.

It will feel chilly with the mercury only reaching highs of around 8C this afternoon. Temperatures will stay low overnight with another frosty start predicted on Friday.

On the general forecast for the North West today, the Met Office said: "After another chilly start, Thursday will be a mixed day of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Scattered showers developing, these possibly heavy in southern areas.

"Another cool feeling day. Maximum temperature 10C."

On the outlook for the North West for Friday, forecasters said: "Dry, chilly and mostly sunny to start. Cloud bubbling up with a scattering of showers developing but many places remaining dry.

"Light winds but still feeling rather cool. Maximum temperature 10C."
