Make-up industry icon Charlotte Tilbury has released another product line - the Collection of Emotions fragrance range. Beauty buffs are so excited to get their hands on the six unique fragrances claiming to transport you through different dimensions.

The scents are said to be inspired by neuroscience to provoke a certain emotion with each one from the colours, scents and 'energies' of the bottles.

Charlotte Tilbury worked with world leaders in fragrance — Anne Flipo, Juliette Karagueuzoglou, and Dominique Ropion — to customise these specific scents. Here, writer and fragrance expert Jada Jones gives her thoughts on each, very unique scent - with one she believes is solidly unisex.

I am obsessed with fragrances, I've travelled Europe trying to learn as much as possible about them and I've even crafted my own. Mona Kattan's perfume library is a life goal of mine so it's no surprise that when six bottles of perfume showed up on my doorstep I squealed a little bit.

Charlotte Tilbury is known for her makeup, and her lipsticks are without a doubt my favourites. Now she's released six mood-boosting fragrances. There's a discovery set available for £25 which is an amazing way to find out which ones click with you before committing to the full product.

Here are my initial thoughts on the Fragrance Collection of Emotions. I hadn't seen Charlotte's explanations of the products at the time I reacted.

Magic Energy

The notes: Bergamot, myrtle, sweet jasmine, ambergris, cashmere wood, palo santo

This scent reminds me of yoga. I feel like I'm in the studio and so in touch with my breathing and body in that moment. I imagine it is what a yoga teacher, or spiritual person, would wear. It's soothing and calming and I think if you're having a day that could be better this is a great option. It's woody and comforting.

Speaking about the fragrance, Charlotte Tilbury said: "Awaken your senses with a boost of grounding energy, powered by emotion-boosting molecules – magic energy is love, light and purity. It’s just like being transported to a magical forest, grounded and green." It definitely does feel comforting and grounding.

Calm Bliss

The notes: Bergamot, neroli, orange flower, tonka bean, white musk

I immediately loved the colour of this bottle. The citrus comes through but I was immediately reminded of being on a beach even though salt water wasn't a note, it reminded me of the seaside and sunbathing. I hadn't read Charlotte's description before smelling these; she said that it's "inspired by the calming, cleansing effects of the sea and lakes of lotus flowers," which definitely comes through.

It really does bring in a sense of calm bliss and I have a feeling on stressful days and holidays this will be something I reach for.

Cosmic Power

The notes: Black pepper, cinnamon bark, rose, frankincense, amber, vanilla bean

Seeing frankincense in the notes, I was nervous. This was the first one that really brought out a strong reaction from me. It's spicy and warm. It's what I'd call a cuddle scent, when someone smells this on you they're going to want to get closer to you to get another sniff.

It reminds me of a scent from Zara that is rumoured to be inspired by Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, although this doesn't smell of tobacco. It's a great option for a date and perfect for a confidence boost.

Charlotte said: "This is empowerment in a bottle. Emotion-boosting molecules tonka bean and neroli leave a powerful, memorable path." I think that really comes through and it might just be my favourite.

Love Frequency

The notes: Pink pepper, saffron, rose, musk, amber woods

I was nervous when I saw the inclusion of rose as it can be such a divisive scent. When I visited Grasse last year, the perfume capital of the world, I found that there are quite a few different types of rose scent. Charlotte herself actually worked with a Grasse based lab, Laboratoire Monique Remy, which gave me a lot of comfort.

This reminds me of candied rose petals. It is comforting and feels a little vintage, I was immediately reminded of watching women in my family do their makeup at a dressing table as a child. It definitely provoked a feeling of love but not a romantic one.

Charlotte said: "Floral, soft and delicately hypnotic, this enchanting fragrance feels like a warm embrace that attracts the purest love to you and everyone around you, leaving a love scent trail in its path that lasts up to 18 hours."

More Sex

The notes: Black pepper, juniper, leather accord, musk

This one is the one that immediately strikes me as unisex. I found the leather came through the strongest for me and there's definitely a sex appeal to it, I could see it being seductive although I personally find spicier scents a little sexier.

Charlotte said: "Like a lust potion that transports you from day to dusk, this is powered by seductive emotion-boosting molecules – for the senses it’s a carnal treat. It glides over your skin, leaving a sexy, hypnotic scent in its path."

Joyphoria

The notes: Coconut, neroli, tuberose, white jasmine, vanilla, musk

This bottle stands out instantly for having the signature Charlotte Tilbury finish across the entire bottle. I'm excited to see it next to the lipsticks. When I saw that it had coconut and vanilla I was reminded of Kayali's Utopia Vanilla Coco 21.

This smells like being on the beach with your friends. With your toes dipping into the warm sand and you're laughing with your best friends and having a great time. Like being on holiday and feeling so happy that it can't help but bubble to the surface.

Charlotte said: "Be transported to pure paradise with emotion-boosting molecules – radiant ylang-ylang and enchanting vanilla bean extract. Like a ray of sunshine and a sunny bouquet of happiness that will make you glow with delight!"

My favourites are Joyphoria and Cosmic Power, although they're all quite lovely. I do think they do what they say in the tin with provoking emotions. The perfumes will all retail at £130 each for 100ml or £20 each for 10ml on May 2nd in-store and online.

Shoppers desperately waiting to get their hands on the new collection can now get in line - as the Charlotte Tilbury website waiting list is finally open. For other must-have fragrances, check out the best-selling Kayali range by Huda Beauty, here.
