The A14 has been closed on the westbound carriageway following a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday morning (April 25). National Highways has shared a diversion route for motorists.

A spokesperson said: "The A14 in Cambridgeshire is closed westbound between J21 Brampton Hut Interchange (The NORTH, Peterborough, A1/ Huntingdon A141) and J13 Thrapston Interchange (Peterborough, Oundle A605; Northampton, Rushden A45). This is due to a multi-vehicle collision just near J18 (Spaldwick).

"Cambridgeshire Police, Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue have units in attendance."

CambridgeshireLive has contacted the emergency services for information.

The diversion route is as follows:

Westbound: follow route marked with a hollow circle symbol on local road signs

  • Exit A14 westbound at J21 (Brampton Hut)
  • Take the third exit from the first roundabout and the second exit from the second roundabout on to the A141 eastbound to the Brampton Hut Roundabout
  • At the Brampton Hut Interchange roundabout take the first exit on to the A1 northbound

Traffic from the A14 westbound can bypass the above by merging on to the A1 northbound at J22 of the A14

  • Once on the A1 northbound continue on to the A1(M) and exit at J17 Fletton Parkway Interchange
  • Bear left on the slip road to access the J17 Fletton Parkway Roundabout
  • At the roundabout take the first exit on to the A605
  • Remain on the A605 to Thrapston
  • Take the third exit from the roundabout to re-join the A14 westbound
