It's hosted by Michael Symon, who has appeared on several cooking shows including Iron Chef, and Esther Choi, a chef with multiple restaurants in New York City.

Food Network described the show as "the world's toughest cooking competition that's part culinary marathon and part social experiment."

The competition hosts 24 chefs tasked to take on 24 challenges over 24 consecutive hours.

It's divided into eight shifts which test a different culinary skill such as artistry, speed, and resourcefulness.

The lowest-scoring chef in each challenge gets eliminated until there is only one left.

The 24 In 24 winner goes home with $50,000.

BAD HABITS

During the premiere, contestant Mika Leon caught the attention of competition show fans, but not for a positive reason.

The young woman wore a button-up black shirt with a denim apron with a white strap.

While her outfit was professional, fans didn't appreciate the rest of her appearance.

Her long brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail, but her curtain bangs hung in front of her face.

Although she would push the bangs behind her ear, they still fell in front of her face while cooking.

There were also many clips of the chef where she was prepping food, but she wasn't wearing any gloves.

On top of that, fans noticed that she had long nails, wore nail polish, and continued to wear her rings while making her dishes.

Food Network fans on a Reddit thread couldn't look past all of Mika's missteps.

The creator of the thread wrote, "24 In 24 - is anyone else grossed out with those long fingernails?

"Basic food hygiene standards. I wouldn't eat food prepared by someone who didn't practice it."

One user responded, "Yep, and rings and long hair that's not tied back."

"I've worked in tons of kitchens. NO long fingernails or nail polish was ever allowed," added another.

A third commented, "Should be wearing gloves, for sure, because you can't easily and adequately wash your hands and get all the crud from under them."

"All rings should be removed before cooking, all the gunk that is stuck under rings is disgusting!!" wrote a critic.
