NSW Police evacuate University of Sydney in dramatic bomb alert as public are warned to stay away

A major police operation is under way at The University of Sydney, with students evacuated from buildings on Friday afternoon over fears of a bomb threat.
USYD student newspaper Honi Soit reported the incident on social media, writing: 'Honi Soit has received allegations of a threat on Camperdown Campus.
'Police have arrived. Fisher Library, Abercrombie and the New Law Building were evacuated in the last hour.'
NSW Police confirmed an exclusion area had been put in place and added: 'A police operation is underway at a university campus on City Road, Camperdown.
After an extensive search of the campus police failed to find any items of interest and lifted the lockdown at about 4.30pm.

Students were seen milling around on the campus after they were evacuated from buildings
'An exclusion zone is in place and the community is urged to avoid the area. No further information at this time.'
A University of Sydney spokesperson told student newspaper Honi Soit staff 'immediately contacted' police 'as soon as we became aware of a threat made'.
Officers from the Inner West Police Area Command are now investigating the incident with anyone with information urged to contact police.
