Two men have been charged under the new National Security Act for helping Russian intelligence services, with one accused of being an alleged operative of the Wagner Group, the mercenaries who have fought for Russia in Ukraine, Syria and Africa.

Dylan Earl, a 20-year-old from Leicester, is accused of conduct that would benefit Russia and of endangering life or creating a serious risk to the safety of the public and acting for the mercenary group. Jake Reeves, 22, is accused of aggravated arson and obtaining a material benefit from a foreign intelligence service.

Two other men are also accused of aggravated arson following a fire at a commercial premises in Leyton, east London, with a third person charged with failing to disclose information to police
