Duquesne’s Dae Dae Grant and Jimmy Clark III (1) celebrate with head coach Keith Dambrot after beating George Mason for the coach’s 500th win in 2023 at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Duquesne University put the finishing touch on its historic 2023-24 men’s basketball season, with the announcement Thursday that coach Keith Dambrot, guards Jimmy Clark III and Dae Dae Grant and the entire team will be inducted into the Merle Gillian Duquesne University Athletics Hall of Fame.

They will join a class that was originally announced Dec. 14.

The Dukes finished 25-12, setting a program record for games played (37). The 25 victories represent the most at the school since the 1953-54 team won 26 games and included Dambrot’s father, Sid.

After an 0-5 start to the Atlantic 10 season, Duquesne entered the conference tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y., as the No. 6 seed and proceeded to win four games over five days. The 57-51 victory against VCU in the final clinched the A-10 championship and launched Duquesne into its first NCAA Tournament since 1977.

As an 11 seed, Duquesne defeated BYU in Omaha, Neb., for its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1969 before bowing out in an 89-63 loss to Illinois.

Dambrot retired at the end of the season with a seven-year record of 116-96 at Duquesne and a victory total that is fourth in Duquesne history. In a 26-year coaching career, he amassed an overall mark of 529-305 (.635), with 18 seasons of at least 20 victories, including three at Duquesne.

Clark III, a native of Covington, Ga., was a two-time member of the All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Team (2023, 2024) and was also selected to the 2024 All-Atlantic 10 Second Team. He averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game this season. He led the A-10 in steals per game, registering 87 (third in school history).

In two seasons at Duquesne, Clark III finished with career totals of 959 points, 225 assists and 163 steals while converting 42.4% (345 of 813) of his shots from the field.

Grant, a native of Lorain, Ohio, led Duquesne in scoring this season with an average of 16.4 points per game. He set a Duquesne single-season record for free-throw percentage (94.2%, 146 of 155). That included streaks of 46 and 43 consecutive made free throws. In five seasons, including three at Miami (Ohio), he scored 2,241 points.
