BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty was slammed for being rude after she spit food a guest on the programme served her.

The presenter was fronting the show alongside Charlie Stayt this morning when they were joined on the red sofa by Surrey University professor Dr Ralph Munders.

He told audiences at home that he is responsible for a study that looks into the positive effects eating insects can have for the human body.

Dr Ralph said it can be a good source of protein, and may have other health benefits.

To demonstrate his point he brought in some muffins filled with insects for the BBC Breakfast hosts to try.

Naga and Charlie looked apprehensive as they were served up one regular muffin and one bug infested bake.

Surprisingly Charlie actually seemed to enjoy the foodie experiment and ended up munching away.

However, Naga only took one bite of the insect muffin before pulling a face and spitting the mouthful out onto her plate.

She tried to hide it with a tissue discreetly, but viewers were left appalled.

Charlie turned to ask her which of the muffins she preferred but Naga declined to comment, shaking her head with a horrified expression and reaching for a mug of water to wash the taste away.

Someone at home hit out: "She was plain rude. Clearly someone in her ear told her off."

But others found it funny, with one person giggling: "I see Nagas face after eating those insect muffins lol."

Another joked: "By the look of Naga's face, those muffins taste as bad as we'd predicted lol."

A third chimed in: "Both of those muffins on BBC Breakfast look rank and Naga just confirmed they're bad. It's a no from me."
