Lash tech slammed as ‘tacky’ and ‘unprofessional’ for charging clients extra to not have photos posted on social media

The odd criteria cost extra money and time

In a viral post on X, formerly Twitter, one user who goes by Genie (@lettersfromjuno) shared the technician's controversial rule.

On her online booking form, the unnamed lash tech outlined her strict guidance for anyone who received a beauty treatment from her.

She explained there are additional fees in place for any client who refused to share pictures of her handy work on social media.

If one of her customers wasn't able to post their pictures online, the beauty pro said she would share them on their behalf.

"No pictures!!!!! (If you don't want me to take your pictures or post them)," she wrote.

This rule came with a $15 surcharge, which was outlined alongside the prices for special accommodations such as early morning appointments and "squeeze-ins."

The picture condition was listed as an "add-on" to an appointment.

As well as an additional charge, the picture clause was also described as taking five minutes longer than a treatment with photographs.

"I feel like a lot of y’all don’t need to be lash techs," Genie captioned the screenshot.

She said she wanted to "raise awareness" about the lash technician's behavior.

I’m a plastic surgeon & an eyelash serum made my eye bulge & led me to need surgery – beware, it can age you too

Genie also claimed that the beauty expert wasn't board-certified.

While a lot of beauty professionals encourage their clients to share their work online, most social media users seemed shocked at this strict enforcement.

They shared their thoughts on the rule in a thread under the original post.

Most people were not sold on the unique marketing idea.

CONFUSED REACTIONS

"If a client pays you for the service, they aren’t required to post, tag, or allow YOU to take pictures of them," wrote one person.

"They could simply have a higher standard price and then offer 'discounts' for people who are happy to have their picture taken," suggested another reader.

"She should have a -$15.00 for permission TO use photos for marketing purposes. Less tacky," said a third X user.

"If you're forcing me to model too I need them for free, the f**k I'm paying you NOT to take my photo for?" asked another person.
