On a day when Willie Mullins is set to win the British Trainers’ Championship, I was looking at some of the figures regarding Irish-trained horses in Britain.

At a basic level, horses trained in Ireland have a 13pc strike-rate in British races across all codes, but we must remember that some races have multiple Irish entries. So quite often the Irish loser will be beaten by an Irish-trained horse, sometimes a stablemate.
