Marcell Jacobs created Olympic history in Tokyo in 2020, becoming the first Italian to win the 100-meter title. In a stunning win, she finished the race with a time of 9.80, which is still the European record. Understandably, hopes are high for him in the Paris Olympics. With that on the shoulder, Jacobs made his season debut at the East Coast Relays. However, the results were not up to the mark.
The Olympic champion lost to Andre de Grasse, who trains with him in the same club. Interestingly, Jacobs tied with de Grasse with a time of 10.11 seconds. But 200-meter Olympic champion, De Grasse of Canada has announced the winner since he won with wind assistance of 0.9 m/sec. The X handle of Travis Miller shared the results of the race. US sprinter Trayvon Bromell took third place with a time of 10.14s.

Florida Relays 2024: A star-studded squad

Other than the 100 and 200-meter sprint competitions, Noah Lyles finds the 4×100-meter competition to be equally important. The three-peat competitor’s relay attack represents the peak of his short-distance sprinting prowess, as he has previously stated his intention to win “all the medals.” Noah Lyles’ destiny hasn’t, however, supported his relay claims up to this point. Before the actual outdoor competitions, the athletes timed themselves against one another in the 2024 Florida Relays. Because of this, there was an exceptionally high level of interest in the track as champs like Christian Coleman, Grant Holloway, and Noah Lyles participated in the same 4x100m relay. Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles reportedly favored the USA Red team, while Holloway was on the Gainesville Elite. Kyrie King and JT Smith ran with reverence for that USA Blue squad.
Gainesville won the race in a record 37.67 seconds, while USA Red was unable to finish despite a fierce start from Coleman. In the last phase, when Holloway’s squad went earlier, Noah couldn’t manage to seize the baton. A few more Americans seized the opportunity when Noah Lyles reshaped his performance at the 2024 Florida Relays. In the 4×100-meter final, the USA Blue team outperformed the squads from China and Brazil. They beat the previous season’s world record time when they completed the race in 38.23 seconds.
