JM Eagle LA Championship boasts the largest purse among regular LPGA Tournaments. A bump of $750,000 this year has taken it closer to $4 million. Only two years ago, the purse size at the Wilshire Country Club stood at $1.5 million. In fact, this year’s purse is higher than the $2.25 million that is being offered at the ISPS Handa Championship of the DP World Tour.

Nelly Korda withdrew from the LA event. In the absence of the World No. 1, two Australians, Hannah Green and Grace Kim, are tied at the top. Stakes are higher for Green, as she is the defending champion. Before the final round kickstarts at 7.35 AM local time (10.35 AM EST), check out the purse breakdown of the event.

JM Eagle and Plastpro increased the purse size last month. It was the second time in as many years that the tournament received a financial boost. A year back, the organizers doubled it from $1.5 million to $3 million. In an official statement, the CEO Walter Yang and his wife, Shirley said, “Our commitment to the LPGA, to the players and to the spectators is to continue to lead the way in shining an increased spotlight on women’s sports and promoting a more equitable landscape for female golfers, one tournament at a time.

Aside from the purse, they will take care of accommodation charges and VIP shuttle service throughout the week. Thanking the title sponsors, the LPGA CEO, Mollie Marcoux Samaan said, “They continue to move the needle for not only LPGA athletes but also for girls and women everywhere. Their leadership demonstrates the value they place on the talent of our athletes, their belief in the LPGA to deliver results and their steadfast commitment to creating a world-class event for fans to enjoy in Los Angeles and around the globe.”

The LPGA Tour this year boasts over $120 million in total purse. 11 tournaments this year, excluding the Majors, have equal to or more than $3 million on offer. A year back the number was just five. In At Hancock Park, twenty players are within five shots of the lead, including last week’s runner-up Maja Stark. Golf Channel and NBC will broadcast the final round from 6 PM-9 PM ET.
