A shadow cabinet member has insisted he is not aware of any offers being made to a Tory MP who defected to the Labour Party at the weekend.

Dr Dan Poulter, a former minister who has served as the Tory MP for Central Suffolk & North Ipswich since 2010, announced on Saturday that he could no longer “look people in the eye” while he stayed in the Conservative Party. The defection presents a new headache for Rishi Sunak just days before the local elections.
