As our aerial set pics show, the Co-Op store has now disappeared from Weatherfield after six years on neighbouring Victoria Street.

It comes as the ITV soap signed a new megabucks sponsorship deal with Sainsbury's and Argos, meaning the superstores will replace the current supermarket on the show.

Currently, work is underway on the show's Salford set, where a boarded up shop front stands where the Co-Op was.

Posters on the boards bear the Argos and Sainsbury's logo, with 'Coming Soon' written beneath.

The changes will appear on the soap in July.

Argos, which is owned by retail giant Sainsbury's, first entered a sponsorship deal with the show back in 2021.

But earlier this month it was revealed that the deal had been extended until 2026, with a Sainsburys and Argos shopfront to appear on screen as part of the deal.

The big money agreement will also see other branding pop up in Weatherfield, with residents set to be seen toting their Bag For Life as they do their grocery shopping.

After signing the deal, Sainsbury’s head of campaigns Laura Boothby said: “Coronation Street is one of the country’s most iconic TV shows which our customers know and love, so continuing our sponsorship made perfect sense.

“We hope the new store brings familiarness and fun to viewers watching from home and perhaps see Ken Barlow popping in to Click & Collect a new kettle!”

ITV Director of Commercial Sales and Partnerships, Mark Trinder added: “We are proud and excited to be continuing and expanding the relationship between two of the nation’s most loved and recognised brands.

The soap is no stranger to brand deals and product placement.

In 2018, Co-Op signed a deal to have a storefront on the show, alonsgside Costa Coffee.

Costa's deal ended in 2021, and was replaced by an EE phone shop.

However, EE has now been replaced by travel agents Hays Travel, which the new Sainsbury's and Argos store will be next door to.
