There are two bank holidays coming up in May - and Aldi shoppers will want to be aware of how these dates affect opening times.

If you’re a regular Aldi shopper, then you may know that most shops are typically open from 8am until 10pm, Monday to Saturday, then from 10am until 4pm on Sundays. The only exception is in Scotland, there are different Sunday trading rules - most shops in Scotland are typically open from 9am until 8pm on Sundays.

Aldi has confirmed its regular opening hours will remain in place on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. But on the bank holiday Monday, which is on May 6, shops will close slightly earlier than normal. Instead of closing at 10pm, Aldi has confirmed that the majority of shops will shut at 8pm.

Again, the exception is in Scotland, where regular 8am until 10pm shopping hours will be in place for most stores. The second bank holiday in May will fall on Monday, May 27 - but Aldi has yet to confirm its opening times for this date yet.

In more Aldi news, the supermarket has just introduced two new rules for its Too Good to Go bags. Too Good to Go bags are packed with discounted food that is approaching their sell-by or use-by dates, with the aim to prevent food waste and save shoppers money.

At Aldi, a Too Good to Go back sees you get shopping worth £10 for only £3.30 with the bags containing a range of grocery products. Aldi has recently announced an extension to its collection window to reserve surplus food bags. The move will now mean customers can secure a bag up to 24 hours ahead of the collection time. Alongside this, shoppers will now be able to purchase bags on Sundays. The new changes were introduced from April 21.
