Dana White has spoken out about Jon Jones’ latest controversy.

The current UFC heavyweight champion is widely regarded as the greatest MMA fighter of all time, but his career has been plagued by issues away from the Octagon.

Jones had numerous run-ins with the law before seemingly turning over a new leaf following his last arrest for domestic battery in September 2021.

However, he recently found himself in trouble again when a UFC drug testing agent, Crystal Martinez, filed a police report accusing him of threatening to kill her.

Jones denied any wrongdoing and responded to the allegation by sharing CCTV footage that shows him having a friendly exchange with Martinez moments after he allegedly threatened her.

White was gearing up for UFC 300 in the middle of April when news of ‘Bones’ being in trouble went viral, so he opted against speaking publicly about the incident until now.

The UFC CEO used Jones’ recent case to highlight a problem with certain media outlets, who had wrongly claimed Jones had been arrested in connection with the allegation against him.

“He literally is always in trouble,” White said on the Club Random podcast.

“Always has something going on and got into trouble. NBC News put out a story that he was arrested, and he was never arrested. It’s just like, they don’t even try anymore.”

White went on to break down the entire situation for his confused interviewer, Bill Maher, who was unfamiliar with Jones and his history of bad behaviour.

He added: “All of our fighters are drug tested.

“So, the testing agents can show up at your house or wherever you are, and they have to know your whereabouts. Showed up, and she said that he threatened her.

“Then NBC News said that he was arrested, and he was never arrested.”

Jones is currently sidelined with an injury he suffered last year.

The 36-year-old was supposed to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 in November before tearing his bicep and allowing Tom Aspinall to become interim champion by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich on the card.

Despite the fact fans are clamouring for the two heavyweight titleholders to unify the division, Jones insists he will press ahead with a legacy fight against Miocic.

Jones is training again and will return to MMA later this year.
