WWE legend The Undertaker reveals unique way Cody Rhodes celebrated epic WrestleMania win

Cody Rhodes won WWE’s top title at WrestleMania, then lived the dream of any Attitude Era fan - by leaving a 4am voicemail for The Undertaker.

He downed Roman Reigns in an action-packed main event to claim the Undisputed WWE title, with a little help along the way from the Deadman and another legend in John Cena.

His victory came at the sharp end of what WWE claimed was their biggest WrestleMania of all time, so it stands to reason that Rhodes was feeling happy with himself.

It’s now been revealed that, as you might expect, he partied long into the night after his success in Philadelphia.

Long after the ring had cleared of legends like Undertaker, Cena, and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, Rhodes kept the spirits high – at least according to the Demon of Death Valley himself.

In an amusing tale told on his Six Feed Under podcast, the iconic Mark Calaway, who played Undertaker character over an epic 30-year career, revealed his time in the ring with Rhodes that night wasn’t the last he’d heard from him.

Hinting that Rhodes had taken his ‘good time’ well into the early hours, he recalled: “He sent me a voicemail that night, the night he won the title.

“It was 3:49 AM, I think, and I made out about half of it!

“I believe he was having a good time that night, well deserved.”

The Phenom went on to give Rhodes, a founding star of All Elite Wrestling in between spells with WWE, some mighty praise.

He added of the new champ: “He has come full circle. I didn’t see him developing into being the sports entertainer that he is.

“[He’s] another example of motivation and not being content with where you’re at and learning.

“A lot of guys come into WWE before they are ready and end up leaving and leaving unhappy.

“I don’t know for certain, but I’m pretty sure he left the same way.

“Man, did he figure things out on both sides. From the marketing aspect, business aspect, to connecting with is audience.

“He’s not the same person that left. Nowhere close.”

Taker is of course no stranger to a top star downing a beer or two to celebrate WrestleMania.

Ahead of his match with the morbid mortician at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, Cena sat in amongst the sold-out crowd sharing drinks with fans.

Cena let his hair down presumably safe in the knowledge that he and his foe would only be working the short shift in the ring that night.

Undertaker had no such advance knowledge that their encounter would last just a few minutes, threatening to leave the show as a result.

The Texan later explained: “I’ve trained for a 45-minute war [and] I felt good.

“Vince calls me into his office and he goes: ‘Okay, it’s just gonna be about five minutes… you’re gonna squash him.’

“I’m like, ‘What? What?’ And, you know, Vince, he just thought that was the funniest [thing], because he knew how hard I’d been training.

“I’m like, ‘No, no, no… I’m doing 30 or I’m not going out.’ And he’s like, ‘Mark, that’s not what we need.’”

Undertaker did proceed with the match and duly finished off Cena in quick order.
