Kaizer Chiefs vice-captain Keagan Dolly is rumoured to be leaving the club after rejecting a new contract on a reduced salary.

Dolly’s time at Naturena is up

The former Montpellier and Sundowns attacking midfielder fractured a toe and could miss the remainder of the campaign. He has played only EIGHT times across all competitions this season, including seven in the league with a solitary assist. Is that good enough for a player boasting his calibre, experience and salary?

“Kaizer Chiefs are considering the exit of Keagan Dolly as they look to restructure the club and technical team in the off-season. As the highest-paid player at the club, early discussions have been lowered terms. The 31-year-old is likely to part ways if no agreement is made,” according to Rushsportson2 on X.

Dolly is a top earner at Kaizer Chiefs

31-year-old Keagan Dolly, a vastly experienced star with stints in France and a glorious spell with Mamelodi Sundowns under his belt, is the highest-paid player at Naturena. He takes home a reported R1.4 Million a month. Here are the monthly salaries of the top earning Glamour Boys:

  • Keagan Dolly – R1,4 Million
  • Itumeleng Khune – R480,000
  • Zitha Kwinika – R370,000
  • Ashley du Preez – R300,000
  • Yusuf Maart – R300,000

It’s easy to envisage a situation where Khune and Dolly are no longer Chiefs players next season. That illustrates a level of money mismanagement by the club. It also reveals an opportunity for them to considerably trim the wage bill, as neither player has been an integral part of the starting XI for the last two campaigns.

SITHEBE STAYING PUT

Speaking of experienced players with uncertain futures, Siyethemba Sithebe is also on the verge of agreeing on a new deal. Soccer-Laduma reports that the former AmaZulu midfield schemer will sign a new two-year contract at Naturena when the season finishes.

“It will happen. It has started now and the club (Chiefs) has offered him (Sithebe) a two-year contract to extend at the end of the season. I think the player has done enough in the few games he has played to prove himself that he deserves a renewal. So, as it stands now, everything could be finalised before the end of the season,” said the source.
