Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, the rising star of the Stormers, has captured the attention of rugby enthusiasts across South Africa. At just 22 years old, he has already showcased his immense potential and versatility on the pitch.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s recent performances in the United Rugby Championship have been nothing short of spectacular. His two tries against the Lions in the season opener were a testament to his skill and determination, leading the Stormers to a narrow 35-33 victory.

From the Football Pitch to the Rugby Field

What many may not know about Feinberg-Mngomezulu is that his sporting journey could have taken a different path. Growing up, he was equally passionate about football and even considered pursuing it as a career.

“I definitely did take football seriously as an option,” Feinberg-Mngomezulu admitted. “I would take the drives to the training sessions and trials but being surrounded by schoolboys playing rugby at Bishops and quite a rugby-dominant culture, that was the side I leaned towards.”

Despite choosing rugby, Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s football skills have not gone unnoticed. When asked about his dream five-a-side football team from the current Stormers squad, he chose Hacjivah Dayimani, Ruben van Heerden as the goalkeeper, Ben Loader, Dan du Plessis in the midfield, and himself.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s Resilience in the Face of Injury

While Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s talent is undeniable, he has recently faced a setback in the form of a stress fracture in his ankle.

However, he remains positive and focused on his recovery, working closely with the Stormers’ strength and conditioning staff to ensure he returns stronger than ever.

“The injury rehab has been good, it has been shorter than usual and it has been great working with the strength and conditioning staff to make sure my body is fully prepared and built-proofed for what is going to be the most important part of the season,” Feinberg-Mngomezulu said.

A Stormers Man Through and Through

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s commitment to the Stormers is evident in his recent decision to sign a new three-year deal with the team. He sees himself as an integral part of the Stormers’ future success and is determined to help build a lasting legacy.

“I am a Stormers man at heart and just the experiences that I have had over the past couple of seasons and watching the progress of the team says enough about where we are going,” he said. “I want to be part of the building of an empire here.”
