Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has stated how his players need just "one more big performance" with promotion to the Premier League now seemingly within touching distance.

The Tractor Boys beat Coventry City by 2-1 at the Coventry Building Society Arena yesterday evening, thanks to goals from Kieffer Moore and Cameron Burgess.

That result could prove pivotal regarding Leeds United's hopes of automatic promotion, with Town now requiring just a point from their final game of the league season this weekend, as they travel to relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

McKenna, who has been hailed for his terrific impact as Ipswich boss, lauded praise for the way of his players following the full-time whistle in the West Midlands, insisting the scenes seen after the 90 minutes were more than merited.

"It was a great moment, no doubt," said McKenna, referring to the emphatic celebrations his players shared with a packed-out away end.

"We've been blessed to have a few of them over the last couple of years and you have to enjoy them. I always say to the players that it's not about the destination. For me, a lot of the enjoyment comes from the journey and each step along the way.

"We've come here to a very good team, with very good players, who've got a vastly experienced manager, who have just been to the FA Cup semi-final and performed admirably. To defeat them in their own stadium in such an exciting game is a night to enjoy in isolation."

"We know we've put ourselves in a really good position," added the 37-year-old. "The narrative will be we're nearly there, but in reality, we've got a really tough match on Saturday. I've not been involved in a Championship match yet that wasn't hard fought and I'm not expecting anything different on Saturday.

"We know we're going to have to fight really hard for it. It's an experience we've been through before though and we can utilise that to try and deliver one more big performance."
