The first of the Pride in Liverpool acts are starting to be announced.

The Masquerade Bar, found on Cumberland Street, has revealed that the Romanian singing duo The Cheeky Girls will headline its street party in July.

The identical twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia, who found fame on Popstars: The Rivals, will entertain the LGBTQ+ community and its allies with their hits Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) and Take Your Shoes Off.

The fringe event, held on Saturday, July 27, will see the Pride Quarter street transformed “into a huge celebration” in the heart of the city’s queer scene.

The Masquerade Bar has teased that more acts will be announced for its street party in the coming weeks.

The venue’s manager, Gethin Mullock, told the ECHO: “We had a spectacular day last year for our Masquerade Pride festival, and we’re so excited to bring our street party back to Cumberland Street this year. We’re thrilled to announce we’re going to be joined by the Cheeky Girls, as well as some new and familiar faces on our stage.”

Gethin explained how last year saw celebrations “reach an all-time high” with Kerry Katona and this year will be no different.

In usual fashion, The Masquerade Bar will open its street party straight after the annual ‘March with Pride’ parade. The event is free to attend, and no tickets are necessary.

The announcement comes days after LCR Pride Foundation revealed RuPaul's Drag Race winner Danny Beard would be hosting an additional day of festivities for the first time ever.
