Norwin Elks donates to Autism Society

Those who participated in the Norwin Elks’ Autism Car Cruise helped a good cause because the Elks was able to donate $5,000 from the proceeds of the car cruise to the Autism Society of America Westmoreland County Chapter, said Gary Ed of North Huntingdon, a longtime organizer of car cruises in the area.

The Norwin Elks donated the money to the Autism Society during a special program for Vietnam War veterans in March at the Elks Lodge on Sandy Hill Road.

Melissa Fligger, president of the Westmoreland County Chapter of the Autism Society, said the donated from the car cruise will be used to host parties and activities for the children, as well as help those who need assistance in pay the cost of attending a summer camp.

Fligger said the Elks donated money from the car cruises of the past few years.
