Voters have had their say in polls across the North East in the local council elections for 2024.
Council seats were up for grabs in Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, North Tyneside, and South Tyneside this year and we have been bringing you all the results as they come in. Each of the five Tyne and Wear councils had seats up for election, while Durham and Northumberland are not due to stage elections again until 2025.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024 and some results were announced overnight. Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead and South Tyneside all declared their results by the early hours of Friday.
North Tyneside will be declaring their count on Saturday morning and hope to have their results all declared by around 4pm.
