Police say missing woman from Pittsburgh area was killed in Dauphin County
A missing woman now thought to be a homicide victim went to the Harrisburg area in February to live with a boyfriend, Millvale police said Friday.
Tracy Scanlon, 54, who also goes by the last name Zalenski, was last seen in late February leaving a wine and liquor store in Dauphin County, according to Susquehanna Township police, who are investigating the case.
On Friday, Susquehanna Township police said they believe that Scanlon, who has not contacted family or friends since February, was murdered.
Millvale Police Chief Tim Komoroski said that Scanlon’s daughter reported her missing to his department after they had not heard from her in a few weeks. Komoroski said the daughter had sent her mother money that was not received and there was no activity on Scanlon’s social media accounts.
The daughter told Millvale police that Scanlon said she was moving to the Harrisburg area to be with her boyfriend, who already lived there, the chief said.
Komoroski said the family had little information about the boyfriend. The chief did not know how long the two had been together.
Susquehanna Township police said that Scanlon had been staying in the 3300 block of Union Deposit Road. They did not say what led them to conclude that she is dead.
