The largest second hand clothes market in the UK will be coming to Manchester for the third time. Clothes Cycle Manchester will take place at Victoria Baths on Sunday, May 12.

It will feature over 100 vendors selling all kinds of garments from vintage clothing to the latest in streetwear from as little as £5. Beyond shopping, punters will also be treated to live music from local DJs, delicious street food will be on offer, with a licensed bar on hand for refreshments.

Shoppers can also take a break from thrifting by visiting the on-site nail and tooth gem artists, or permanent jewellery stand, all of which will be available throughout the day.

If you were looking to get rid of some clothes, there will also be a free clothes swap on the day. You can bring up to five items of clothing, claim your tokens and then shop the rails.

Clothes Cycle is a sustainable fashion and accessories brand created by university student Poppy Collingwood-Cameron in 2022. ‘’I have always been highly interested in thrifting and second hand shopping since my early teenage years," she said.

"However I was often left frustrated by items turning up from eBay or Depop and not fitting me or not looking like the images. I found that the in-person thrifting events I attended were usually overwhelming and provided low-quality stock presented unappealingly (items creased, sometimes dumped in large piles and/or smelling not great).

"This affected my experience and made thrifting in person, tiring, unenjoyable and often unsuccessful. This inspired me to create a space where thrifting was fun, enticing and not off-putting, particularly to those who were not 'die-hard thrifters' and to help encourage people to shop sustainably.

"Clothes cycle was born out of a desire to solve all the issues that traditionally came with thrifting and put people off buying second-hand clothes.

"Sustainable fashion practices accelerated hugely during lockdown and the company has captured the innovation and entrepreneurship that surfaced among Gen-Z during Covid, many of whom set up small businesses selling pre-loved and sustainable clothing during Covid.’’

The Clothes Cycle event will take place between 11am-5pm on May 12. You can buy tickets online here.
