Cops are investigating after primary school kids were added to a snapchat group by older men and sent sexual images.

Several pupils were added to a Snapchat group by ‘older unknown men’ last weekend. The youngsters were then sent sexual images on the popular messaging app, STV reports.

A primary school in Edinburgh said an email was sent to parents to alerting them to a "serious online safety issue" after a number of P6 and P7 pupils were targeted.

Police said they received a report on Wednesday.

Parents have been told that if their child was in the group and viewed the material that they would be contacted by school bosses.

Teachers and support staff have been made aware and will be helping children impacted through "supportive conversations", the school has said.

A police investigation is underway and officers' enquiries are continuing.

Chief Inspector Paul Gillespie said: “On Wednesday, 1 May, 2024 we received a report of inappropriate images sent to children in Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this matter.”
