May kicks off with the first of two bank holidays that people will get to enjoy over the next couple of weeks.

Monday, May 6, marks the annual early May bank holiday, allowing us to bask in the spring weather during a three-day weekend.

Lastly, the spring bank holiday falls at the end of May on Monday, May 27. As with all bank holidays, shop and supermarket opening times may differ slightly on these days.

Therefore, if you need to make a quick trip to the store, it's crucial to know their operating hours.

Here are the opening times for Aldi, ASDA, Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose on the bank holiday of Monday, May 6.

Aldi

Opening hours on Saturday and Sunday remain unchanged. The budget supermarket's opening hours on Monday, May 6 will be 8am to 8pm.

  • Saturday, May 4 – 8am to 10pm
  • Sunday, May 5 – 10am to 4 pm
  • Monday, May 6 – 8am to 8pm

However, the retailer says opening hours may vary depending on store location. You can check individual store opening hours here.

ASDA

ASDA stores across the UK will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, May 6, the majority of ASDA stores will be opening 8am to 10pm - although some may open earlier and stay open later.

ASDA Walton:

  • Saturday, May 4 – 7am to 10pm
  • Sunday, May 5 – 10.30am to 4.30pm
  • Monday, May 6 – 8am to 10pm

ASDA Skelmersdale:

  • Saturday, May 4 – 6am to 10pm
  • Sunday, May 5 – 10am to 4pm
  • Monday, May 6 – 6am to 10pm

Tesco

Tesco stores across the UK will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the majority of Tesco larger stores will be open from 8am to 6pm in England and Wales.

Tesco Park Rd:

  • Saturday, May 4 – 7am to 11pm
  • Sunday, May 5 – 11am to 5pm
  • Monday, May 6 – 8am to 6pm

Lidl

Lidl supermarkets will be open as usual on the May Bank Holiday. Stores will be open between 8am and 10pm.

Some store opening times may vary and customers are advised to check the store finder on Lidl’s website, for details on their local branch.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's stores across the UK will be open as normal on Saturday and Sunday. On bank holiday Monday, the majority of Sainsbury's larger stores will be open from 8am to 8pm in England and Wales.

Morrisons

Morrisons will be open as normal on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. On May 6, Morrisons stores will open between 7am and 8am with the majority of stores closing at 8pm, however some times may vary.

All M&S and M&S Foodhalls will be open on Monday, May 6. Opening times for stores vary on Monday. For example:

  • M&S in Liverpool One - 9am to 8pm
